Playwright Edward Allan Baker dedicates this play to children born to seventeen-year-old mothers. “Face Divided” is not just a play about a disgruntled teenage mother, but it also speaks on the plight of children being reared by children with no foresight, little education and bad role models.

Face Divided  is a drama that delves into the complexities of family dynamics and personal identity. The play centers around a young couple struggling with internal conflicts and secrets that come to light over the course of the narrative. This play takes place in Rhode Island.

The couple is grappling with their own issues, including personal insecurities, strained relationships, and the challenges of communication. The play is known for its raw and honest portrayal of these struggles, with a focus on the emotional and psychological barriers that each character faces.

Baker's writing often features intense dialogue and a focus on character development, making Face Divided a powerful exploration of human nature and relationships. The play's themes are universal, touching on the difficulties of reconciling one's past with the present and the quest for personal fulfillment amid familial expectations.
